Diamond Cut

Where Brilliance Begins

If there’s one characteristic that defines a diamond’s beauty at first glance, it’s cut. A well-cut diamond captures light with precision, returning fire, brilliance, and sparkle with every movement.

More than just aesthetics, cut is about craftsmanship. It’s the only one of the 4Cs directly influenced by human hands—and when done right, it transforms a rough stone into something radiant.

What Is Cut?

Cut refers to how well a diamond’s facets are proportioned and aligned. It includes depth, table, angles, symmetry, and polish—all of which affect how light enters, bounces within, and exits the stone.

Cut is graded (for round diamonds) by the GIA as:

  • Excellent : Maximum brilliance and fire
  • Very Good : Strong light return with minor flaws
  • Good/Fair : Noticeable light leakage and reduced sparkle

At Chrysella, we favor diamonds with Excellent cuts, but we also hand-review every stone for performance beyond paper.

Cut vs. Shape

Cut is not the same as shape. Shape refers to the diamond’s outline (round, oval, cushion, etc.).

Cut refers to the quality of the craftsmanship that defines how that shape interacts with light.

Cut Styles

  • Brilliant Cuts : (Round, Oval, Cushion, Radiant): Engineered for maximum sparkle
  • Step Cuts : (Emerald, Asscher): Clean lines, subtle flash, showcase clarity
  • Mixed Cuts : Combine brilliance and depth (Princess, Heart, Pear)

Each style has a personality  and we’ll help you choose what suits yours.

Why Cut Matters Most

Cut quality can make a diamond appear brighter, larger, and more alive. Even a lower-carat diamond with a superb cut often outshines a larger diamond with a poor one.

That’s why we always advise clients: prioritize cut first. It’s where light and value begins.

Chrysella’s Standards

We go beyond the GIA grade. Every Chrysella diamond is hand-inspected for:

  • Precision light performance
  • Ideal proportions
  • Symmetry and polish that maximize sparkle

You’ll see it in person, side by side, until it’s clear: brilliance isn’t just technical it’s emotional.
