Diamond Clarity
Seeing Beyond the Surface
Every diamond tells a story—not just in how it shines, but in the tiny details within.
Diamond clarity refers to the presence of internal inclusions and external blemishes, most of which are microscopic and naturally occurring. These features make each stone unique—and, when chosen wisely, don’t detract from a diamond’s beauty.
At Chrysella, we believe clarity is about visual performance , not just grading. Our job is to help you see what matters—and what doesn’t.
The GIA Clarity Scale
Clarity is graded under 10x magnification, from flawless to visibly included:
- FL–IF : Flawless or Internally Flawless – No visible inclusions or blemishes
- VVS1–VVS2 : Very, Very Slight Inclusions – Minute imperfections difficult to detect
- VS1–VS2 : Very Slight Inclusions – Typically eye-clean and excellent value
- SI1–SI2 : Slight Inclusions – May be visible under magnification; many are still eye-clean
- I1–I3 : Included – Visible inclusions; may impact brilliance and durability
Most Chrysella clients choose diamonds in the VS1–SI1 range for beauty and practicality.
What Really Matters
1. Eye-Clean vs. Flawless
You don’t need a flawless diamond to have a flawless-looking ring. Many VS2 or even SI1 diamonds appear completely clean to the naked eye—at a much better value.
2. Inclusion Type and Placement
Not all inclusions are equal. Small white crystals near the edges? Often invisible. Dark spots under the table? More noticeable. We review every diamond in person to ensure visual integrity.
3. Size and Shape Impact
Step cuts (like emerald or Asscher) show inclusions more easily than brilliant cuts. We’ll help you pair clarity with the shape you love for optimal results.
Why Clarity Isn’t About Perfection
A diamond’s clarity grade is part of its identity—but it shouldn’t define your decision. What matters most is how it looks and feels in real life.
At Chrysella, we curate diamonds for their light performance, not just their paperwork. And we’ll walk you through the differences so you can choose with clarity and confidence.
What makes a diamond special isn’t what’s missing—it’s what shines through.
